Content marketing

Nobody likes feeling like you’re trying to sell them something.

But people do like reading good stories, and getting useful things for free.
And sometimes, you can use those things to make people want to buy what you’re selling.

Maybe you’re selling a service, or an idea. Maybe you want to establish yourself as a trustworthy brand, or just give people a better idea of what you value. That’s the sort of thing I try to do with my work in content marketing.

Everything below helps build a brand or pitch a product. Take a look at how blog articles, newsletters and videos can give you a clear voice and a bump in business.

These are all from my work at Famly, which is why everything is focused on early childhood education. ︎

[BLOG CONTENT]

Why telling upset children "you're okay" never works

Written to answer a common problem for early educators, and to talk about how we teach children good emotional skills.

This piece has been one of my biggest hits, with 75,000 views and climbing.

Check out the full story here. ︎

[BLOG CONTENT]

Reopening child care:
How did Denmark do it?

Published in the first months of the pandemic, when Denmark was the first country in the world to bring their child care system out of lockdown.

This story brought in over 135,000 site visits from 100 different countries.

You can read the piece right here. ︎

Any child can wear a princess dress

This one was created as early stage content, to talk about something important and help get our brand name out into the world.

Video scripted and hosted by me, based on an article I also wrote. Shot and edited by my talented colleague Lauren.

Interview: How effective were face masks in child care?

During the pandemic, a huge focus for me was making resources to help early educators push through the many uncertainties they faced.

This video, which I wrote based off an interview with two lead researchers from Yale University, allowed me to apply my journalistic background to content marketing.

Here’s another direct link as a backup. ︎

[CUSTOMER NEWSLETTER]

A weekly letter from your pal Aaron

I’m in charge of Famly’s weekly US newsletter, which goes out to about 8,000 readers across North America. I share interesting reads, activity inspiration, and every once in a while, some sales-focused content.

My goal is to share our latest stories, but also to build up a sense of trust. I want readers to feel like they’re getting an email from Aaron, rather than a company.

If you like, you can sign up for the newsletter here.
Sometimes I share some really good play-dough recipes.

[LONG-FORM RESOURCE]

Deliciously downloadable guides for the whole family

I also produce long-form downloadable PDF guides as part of our content marketing strategy.

The idea here is just to give folks something useful and relevant, so as to build up a bit more trust. Hopefully they’ll hang on to these resources, and like it so much that it nudges them to buy our software later on down the line.

Also, it’s a great way to collect emails for our newsletter. ︎
